What makes you fannish? And by that we mean, what is it about a tv show/movie/book/band/podcast/etc that takes you from, "Yeah, I like that," to "I need MOAR!!!" Is it a character? A plotline? The pretty? Subtext that’s just screaming to be acknowledged?
In your own space, tell us what it is that gets you to cross that line into fandom.

I'm not very fannish, actually. I wrote about my journey into fandom last year. I watch a lot of TV shows but I was never so obsessed with one to call myself a fan and wishing to create things for or about it.

There are a lot of bands that I love but don't feel like reading fic about (or only found bad fic for), and I found out about bandom through authors, not the other way round. But fic and the fans on the web made me curious about the real persons behind the stories.
So last year I saw Adam Lambert and Queen live and Fall Out Boy in concert, I'm following the former MCR guys on twitter and I would have gone to see Gerard Way and Frank Iero if they would have come to a venue near me.

When I create myself, fic or art, I need to feel something about the characters I write. And in art I do have to find the people at least a bit attractive.

Maybe you're like me, a fannish serial monogamist who sticks to one fandom at a time (mostly) and just don't have it in you to be enthusiastic about several canons at once.

As I commented on the entry you link too in the first paragraph, I too came to bandom through fic and didn't discover the music until afterwards.

Probably. You're right. Also I don't let things go easily, so I'm not quickly drawn into a new fandom.
Although I do read most pairings in bandom, so that's not very monogam, is it?

It does sound like you're a mono fan, and of course, there's nothing wrong with that at all.

Whatever you need to feel in terms of creating, it's obviously working.

I read more diversely but have to be really enthusiastic to become creative. But it's really satisfying when I finish an artwork - or a drabble.

You do fandom and fannishness in the way that makes you most comfortable. Which is as it should be.

Yes, exactly.
I'm also not working that well under pressure. So I try to be relaxed and only do what I enjoy doing.
