This year I'm late to the challenge because I was away for the last few days to celebrate New Years Eve with a friend, but now that I'm home again I'm looking forward to catching up with reading the others' entries and challenging myself. So, let's start:

[community profile] snowflake_challenge  - Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges?

I usually start work after the holidays on January 7th, so the Snowflake Challenge always has been a lovely thing to start the new year and spend my days off doing fannish stuff. Looking forward to a new challenge each day also made the first days of work in January easier.
Of course I also make resolutions to create more during the coming year - with mixed results. Oh well.
Mostly I do it because it's fun and a great opportunity to read about other fans and their fandoms.

[community profile] snowflake_challenge  -  Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish
.

Asking for things is hard. We're socialized to not ask for things, and in a lot of ways I think that's not necessarily a good thing. We feel guilt and shame when we ask, and that makes us less likely to ask for help, for care and consideration and kindness, for respect, when we all deserve those things.

When I read the explanation to this challenge I remembered a quote that U2 used in one of their videos some time ago: "A friend is someone who lets you help." It's so true, but also amazing. As a child you write a wish-list for Christmas in no time, when you're older it's harder to ask for things, especially because they're usually not the things someone can buy for you.
But I digress!

1) I was late discovering bandom fics, so if anyone knows long, epic, multi-chaptered, brilliantly written bandom-fic that is not on AO3 (because those are likely to have been read by me already) but hidden in a journal or another site, please rec. (Bandom, preferable MCR, PintD or FOB)

2) I always feel bad for wishing for a podfic of one of my written things, because a) the podficcers should choose themselves what they want to read, b) my things are way too short to podfic, c) there was a third reason somewhere... oh right, most of my longer stories are for an unknown fandom
But this challenge might be an opportunity to state the wish, just in case - maybe someone wants to try podficcing and is looking for a drabble to start with... *giggles*

3) I really haven't got a third wish at the moment. Maybe I'll think of something later.

[community profile] snowflake_challenge  -  Day 3

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it.

We create stuff because we love doing it, so getting to talk about what we've done and why we love it - how great is that? It doesn't have to be your most popular fanwork, or the one you think is the best representation of what you do. It can be something you did today, or decades ago, whatever you created that you want to share. And remember, we're open to any and all kinds of fanworks. Fic, podfic, knitting, meta, a rec list, fanmix... the list is pretty much endless. If you think it qualifies, then it totally does. End of story :)

1) Icons and Artwork for the Bandom Holiday Exchange 2015
My most recent work. I'm very happy that the recipient liked what I created.

2) Poison Pink
Art and ficlet for a [community profile] bandom_meme  prompt.

3) Oh, Tom
Words for the little known fandom "Alles Was Zählt" which I mentioned in another entry. No knowledge of the fandom is necessary to read this, mostly because I finished an old draft and have no idea myself what exactly this was about. But I liked the sentiment, so I put it on AO3.
